Scholarships for Geosciences students at FLC
Each year, we award 14 scholarships totaling over $20,000, recognizing academic achievement, field research, and leadership in geosciences. Scholarship funds support tuition, research, fieldwork, equipment, and professional development.
Paid internships with industry partners provide hands-on experience and financial support in fields like environmental consulting, federal land management, and renewable energy. These opportunities come and go quickly, so while they aren’t advertised on this site, faculty announce them through Canvas to keep you in the loop.
"I am pursuing a Geology degree, Anthropology minor, GIS certificate, and Museum Management Certificate. I hope to one day become a paleontologist, and I have already been part of an active Jurassic dinosaur dig site for two summers in a row. In the summer of 2023, I was a research intern at The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs in South Dakota, where I worked hands-on. I also work at the Center of Southwest Studies on campus, and this is the third museum I have worked at so far."
