Dr. Jana Stone teaches classroom management and methods, supporting students from diverse backgrounds, and educational history and theory. Her research focuses on professional development for rural elementary teachers in supporting their students from diverse backgrounds. She has also researched women in educational leadership in rural communities. This work has been published in Frontiers in Education, The Rural Educator, and The Clearing House: A Journal of Educational Strategies. Before returning to Fort Lewis College, she was an elementary teacher in California and Wyoming. She also served as an English teacher with the U.S. Peace Corps in Moldova.
